Dear Ms. Wells,
I have been a customer of XXX-XXXX since 1983. I hope my business has been of value to your institution. It is my sincere wish that this relationship continue to our mutual benefit.
I write to inform you that I no longer possess social security account number XXX-XX-XXXX. I have revoked the SS-5 application for this number, made on my behalf by my parents. My legal right to do this is enclosed as an attachment.
Since I no longer possess this social security number, this presents a problem, as this number also identifies my share, draft, and loan accounts which I have with your institution. If you can give me written assurance that you will purge this number from any of your records which use this number as a social security number, then I believe that we can continue to use XXX-XX-XXXX solely to identify my personal account numbers. Otherwise, I will be forced to close my accounts and reopen others using no social security number. This would be a great inconvenience to both of us.

I warn you that should your legal department rely on the IRS for information, that they should get this information in writing, subscribed and attested under penalty of perjury by the supplying agent. The IRS has a habit of not coming to the defense of companies who are sued by their former customers for complying with improper IRS demands.
I fully intend to protect all my rights under the Constitution of these united States of America.
I now ask for you to give me written assurance that you will not allow the IRS, or any other organization or agency, access to either information about my account or the funds therein without a proper and lawful search warrant or levy issued by a court of law and signed by a judge. If you cannot give me this assurance, I will be forced to close my accounts and take my business elsewhere. This would not only be a great inconvenience to me, but would close the chapter on a business relationship which I have valued for over 15 years, and which could potentially last for over 50 more.
Should you require any additional information, I will be happy to accept your call at my office at XXX-XXX-XXXX x7413 between the hours of 8:30am - 4:30pm EDT, or at home XXX-XXX-XXXX between the hours of 5:00pm - 10:00pm EDT.
Kindest Regards,
/s/ Brad L. Barnhill

Dear Mr. Barnhill,
A credit union is required to obtain an SSN or tax identification number (TIN) for each member for reporting purposes and to make appropriate reports to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
CSCEFCU is a Federal Credit Union and operates under the laws of the government of the United States of America.
Although you have maintained an excellent account with us for twelve years - we cannot comply with your request.
In order to close your account, the VISA must be paid-in-full. Your Direct Deposit must be stopped, or re-routed to another financial institution. You have a balance in your checking account. You can write a check for that amount - or I can transfer the balance to VISA. Once the VISA is paid, we will send a check for the remaining balance in your Regular Share Savings (S1) account.
Sincerely,
/s/ Peggy Wells

Dear Ms. Wells,
I received your letter of April 24 replying to my request to continue business with your institution without the use of a Socialist Insecurity Number. I am disappointed that you no longer care to do business with me.
I recognize that is far simpler to end your business relationship with me than it is to support my rights under the law in the face of the terrorcrats of the I.R.S.
Socialism in America is still voluntary, I do not care to volunteer any longer. This socialism and the I.R.S. are a pox upon our land. Your desire to impose that socialism upon me without my permission is actually unlawful. In my last letter, I cited plenty of statutory authority to support my right to exit this system peacefully and lawfully. I notice that you did not bother yourself to do the same.
You purport that your institution is required to obtain a SSN or TIN for reporting purposes. You purport that you operate under the laws of the government of the United States of America. I know that I do. I have provided you with all of the statutory authority required. You could at least attempt to do the same.
Sincerely,
/s/ Brad L. Barnhill

Dear Mr. Barnhill,
Thank you for your April 29, 1997 letter. I believe it demonstrates your appreciation of membership in CSCEFCU. I do not believe it would be productive nor appropriate for me to respond to the various codes that you cite - I am neither an attorney notr a tax specialist.
I can speak to what our policy is -
It is the credit union's policy that anyone causing a loss to the credit union may maintain a share account with voting privileges, but all other member services (including payment of dividends) ae suspended or revoked. (i.e. checking and VISA accounts). The credit union would incur administrative and legal expenses to debate this any further - and to what purpose? It does not benefit the membership or you.
Very truly yours,
/s/ Peggy Wells
